Salomon Taub is a young, ambitious adept of the Arbites born upon Scintilla. His eagerness got the better of him at his posting, however; as he made an annoyance out of himself with his command. When the call came for arbitrators to help re-build the forces in Sinophia Magna, they were happy to volunteer the services of the young detective.
Salomon learned a hard lesson in adeptus politics, but although he has kept his head low he has grown bitter and resentful towards his circumstance. In particular Salomon dislikes the veterans of Sinophia Magna, Arbitrators who survived the Empty Men incident. He tells himself he hates them for their failure in their duty to the God-Emperor, but being excluded from that “inner circle” of survivors is a more honest cause.
The work load on Sinophia Magna is ridiculous even beyond the Adeptus Arbites’s usual standards, and good detective work has become a phrase more associated with jokes than a sound work ethic. Although Salomon blames his superiors, the truth is that Salomon himself has become a driving force in prioritizing simple, open-and-shut cases with quick and sloppy work, leaving all other cases to gather dust under the guise of being “overworked”.
Salomon is very defensive when confronted with this, and quick to shift the blame to veterans and superiors of the force. He is a skilled detective, but his potential is slowly being drained by the despair of duty upon Sinophia Magna.
